"Bleach Blind Youth" was screened at the BFI in July 2024
I worked as a Set Dresser/ Art Assistant on Bleach Blind Youth, responsible for decorating the set as well as helping to source/create and transport props.

"Bleach Blind Youth" is a found footage thriller following a group of filmmakers as they document the crimes of the serial killer known as the 'Butcher' ; a summer project devolves into a morbid nightmare when the crew stumble across the killer's actual hideout and find a set of hidden tapes...

My supervisor on this set bought a crate of plastic toy weapons, and I was tasked with making them appear more realistic on camera . There was no remaining budget, so I used what I had on hand - acetone to remove the original paint, clear nail polish to give a metallic sheen, torn up makeup sponges to create texture:

As part of dressing the Butcher's 'trophy case' (above left), I created a number of graphics such as newspaper cutouts and photos of the victims. This meant doctoring actor photos I'd taken so they appeared more period-accurate (colour grade), as well as removing any branding, labels, distracting imagery:
