• "Miss Canton" will be screened at the BFI in July 2025

 

I worked as co-Production Designer and Art Director on Miss Canton, responsible for the design of the set / props, as well as all the budgeting (working with £1,000), props lists, and expense claims forms.

I acted as the set dresser / decorator throughout the shoot, and sourced all props. I also managed a standby art crew (assistants) on set for the duration of our six day shoot period. I also worked with my Producer to crowdfund the film.

 "Miss Canton" is a heartwarming short film about multiculturalism within families, and how language barriers are overcome through food and cooking. In 'Miss Canton', Jenny's struggle to connect with her Cantonese-speaking family is represented in a surrealist Chinese beauty pageant.
